TNAU Botanical Gardens:
Within the city limits is Coimbatore’s own botanical garden, established in 1925 under the direct supervision of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. More than 300 hectares of gardens are planted with a variety of trees, flowers and plants. The TNAU Botanical Garden is one of the city’s main tourist attractions with its nursery and offering of plant cultivation techniques and an annual flower show.
VOC Park and Zoo:
VOC Park and Zoo is one of the city’s major recreation centers. Named after freedom fighter VO Chidambaram Pillai, the park is famous for its aquarium and mini zoo, home to a variety of aquatic animals and animals. Amaravati Sagar Crocodile Farm:
Amaravati Sagar Crocodile Farm is the largest crocodile nursery in India with an estimated 430 crocodiles in captivity. Established in 1975, the farm mainly raises adult crocodiles, as well as some unique species such as the Mugger, Marsh and Persian crocodiles raised here. Wild nests can be found along the reservoir boundaries, from which crocodile eggs are collected, hatched and raised on farms. A trip to the farm requires extra precautions as some of these crocodiles can be dangerous to humans.
Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park:
Nilgiri Biosphere Nature Park was established in 1986 as a joint effort of the Coimbatore Zoo Association to protect the flora and fauna of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. More than 430 species of 25,000 plants are preserved in the park, 85 of which are endangered. Visitors to the park can also view different species of birds, reptiles, mammals, butterflies and insects.

Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park:
The park and reserve, named after the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with a total area of 958 square kilometers, is the largest and well-preserved reserve in Tamil Nadu. There are about 2000 species of plants in the park, 400 of which have medicinal value. A wide variety of fauna can also be observed, some of which are only found in this area. The reserve is also home to more than 300 species of birds and some rare and endangered reptiles and amphibians. The reserve attracts visitors all year round, with the best time of year being December to April.
