This small state in eastern India lies between Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam and Myanmar. People from different cultures live here and speak many different languages, either Tibetan or Burmese. The state’s capital, Imphal, is mostly inhabited by Mattels and is close to the airport. Imphal is the place with all the bazaars and modern tourist attractions. But the real beauty of this state lies in its rural areas. Here are some of the best tourist attractions in Manipur.
1. Moirang:
Known for its rich culture and interesting history, Moirang is located in the Bishnupur district of Manipur. This small village celebrates several once-in-a-lifetime Mattel folk festivals. The people in the village are very kind and nice to tourists. You can witness amazing performances by country dancers who perform the Khaamba-Thoibi dance like gypsies in national costumes. The village also houses an Indian National Army Museum with a magnificent bronze statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
2. Shaheed Tower:
Located in Bir Tikendrajit Park in the heart of Imphal, the tower commemorates the patriotic Metai and Tribal Martyrs, great freedom fighters who willingly sacrificed their lives in the fight against Britain. Their courage can still be felt in this park, which is now a popular tourist destination.

3. Andro:
Andro, another small village close to Imphal, is a popular destination for tourists. The village is notorious for its pottery and even houses a museum about the history of pottery called the Andro Gramshang Museum. This museum displays a variety of traditional flower pots from the region called Pudond Makhong, Walom, Ngangkha and Yukhum. The village itself, although small, is beautiful. 4. Fort Conra:
“Kangla” means dry land in the American Thai language. The fort, also known as Konra Palace, is located along the Imphal River that runs through the capital. This fort is one of the most important historical sites in Manipur and it holds several important archaeological sites. The fort was originally the palace of King Pakamba and was later controlled by the Assamese Rifles. Recently, it has been opened for public viewing.

5. Kachin:
Kakching is the most important agricultural town in Manipur. Tourists are attracted by the large number of temples that this town has. The most famous of these are Krishnachandra Mandir, Narasingha Mandir and Viswanath Mandir.
6. Manipur Zoo:

7. Confucius:
Khongjom is a historic town. Major General Paona Brajabashi and his amassed troops fought off British soldiers in this small town! A monument was erected here to commemorate them. April 23 is proclaimed as Khongjom Day in Manipur.
8. Imphal Valley:
It is a small oval valley and is drained by many rivers including Imphal, Thoubal, Iril, Sekmai and Khuga rivers. The valley attracts many tourists with its panoramic views and other attractions such as Conra Palace, Polo Field and Manipur State Museum. The valley also has several lakes and swamps within its boundaries. This is amazing Manipur tourist destination.
9. Krishna Temple:
This is one of the most famous temples in Manipur. It is located along the Imphal River in Brahmpur Guru Aribam Leikai. As can be seen from the name, this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is a spectacular structure with a peaceful atmosphere.
