Just before her debut Saawariya, Sonam’s rapid weight loss took everyone by surprise. Her diet was reduced to 6 protein meals a day, starting with oatmeal and fruit. After exercising, she gets brown bread with egg whites, and her lunch includes cereal, vegetables, fish or meat, salad, and ragi rogi. She likes high-fiber evenings like chicken biscuits or cold cuts and egg whites. Dinner is limited to soup, salad and a piece of chicken or fish.

She started exercising with Zarine Watson and found that a combination of cardiovascular exercises and weight training worked well for her.
